Geosciences University of Münster – Functionality meets modern architecture
The new building for the Geosciences at the University of Münster combines seminar rooms, a lecture hall with 251 seats, a library with a magazine, and four institutes with specialized laboratories. The architecture of the standalone building is structured by clear horizontal lines and green volumes, which highlight key functions such as seminar rooms and the main entrance. Vertical sun protection elements create rhythm and functionality. Inside, the compact building opens up through bright atriums and open galleries, which serve as communication zones to promote scientific exchange. A counter-rotating scissor staircase connects the floors, while the offices grouped around the light wells are naturally ventilated. The windmill-like organization with visual connections and recreation areas emphasizes the close link between research and teaching—both spatially and in content. The building was awarded the DGNB Gold certificate.
The building meets the EU Green Building Standard and falls short of EnEV2009 by approximately 30 %. The base load coverage für heating and cüling is provided über concrete core activation. The buildings of the Universität Münster are predominantly equipped with escape and rescue route technology as well as access control sölutions from the GU Group. Decisive, in addition to product quality, was above all the expert planning support from GU and the long-term availability of spare parts. Source: www.agn.de

Self-locking SECURY multi-point locking systems, escape door controls, motorized swing door operators, and mechanical access control with panic locks, push bars, and bar handles ensure safe and standard-compliant operation. All components are designed for durability and coordinated with each other—ideal for highly frequented university buildings.
GU SECURY multi-point locking systems provide optimal protection for exterior doors—with high burglary resistance, tightness, and comfort. Additional locking points at the top and bottom of the door ensure reliable security. In automatically locking systems, mechanical self-locking replaces manual locking with a key. Whether wood, PVC, aluminum, or steel doors—each solution is individually tailored to the installation situation.
Electrically controlled panic door locks from BKS ensure safe escape routes—a reliable unlocking of the door is provided via an external emergency button. The escape door controls are available as surface-mounted or flush-mounted versions and offer numerous adjustable functions for monitoring or networking. The integrated signaling concept clearly indicates unlocking, alarm, and locking status. Additional components such as key switches, door opening buttons, and emergency button labeling expand the functionality. The modular control unit can be integrated into various switch programs and combined via the bus interface with other BKS-NET-compatible products. The systems comply with the requirements of EltVTR and DIN EN 13637. The particularly compact design of the surface-mounted version (FTNT AP) enables flexible installation even where space is limited. Complete sets including frames, covers, and power supply are available on request.
GU Automatic swing door operators provide comfortable and barrier-free access solutions for a wide range of building types. Whether via radar motion detectors, push buttons, or access control systems—access is convenient and automated. Especially for fire (fire protection doors) and smoke protection doors, the operators make an important contribution to safety, as they reliably close in an emergency. They also demonstrate their strengths at entrance doors in the façade: In combination with GU SECURY multi-point locking systems, accessibility, burglary resistance, and escape route safety can be optimally combined. This results in modern door solutions that unite comfort, safety, and compliance with standards.
