Indescon Cort 2 – Living, hotel, and leisure combined
With Lincoln Plaza, a pioneering residential and usage concept was created on the Isle of Dogs in the heart of London’s East End. The ensemble comprises two elegant residential towers, a 12-storey branded hotel with 100 suites, as well as an additional round building. In total, the project houses 576 high-quality apartments and numerous leisure, wellness, and service facilities – including a spa, a pool, a fitness area, a private cinema, and a four-storey sky lounge with a winter garden. The aim was to create a structure with versatile uses that seamlessly connects living, hotel, retail, and public spaces. The distinctive S-shaped floor plan was specifically developed to address lighting conditions, wind guidance, and urban planning requirements. Gretsch-Unitas supplied intelligent system solutions for doors, windows, and security – functional, durable, and optimally tailored to the demanding usage concept.
A façade design was developed for Lincoln Plaza that deliberately breaks with convention. Instead of a regular grid, varying element sizes and arrangements create a lively, asymmetrical structure. This design freedom placed high demands on planning, logistics, and installation processes. Despite controversial opinions, the project convinced with its distinctive character and blends harmoniously as a modern accent into the architecture of the London Docklands. Our products in use
At Lincoln Plaza, a wide range of fitting solutions from Gretsch-Unitas Baubeschläge were used: drop-down fittings with ALU-JET 6 and lockable opening restrictor, inward and outward opening French windows and balcony doors with concealed 300 kg hinges, as well as curved special doors with ALU-JET 6 and stainless steel roller hinges.
The drop-down function in windows offers considerable functional and aesthetic advantages for many construction projects. The sash lowers slightly outward when opened and remains stable in any position. The exterior view of a structural glazing façade can be designed extremely homogeneously when using this window. In contrast to a conventional top-hung window, drop-down windows are positionally stable in every position.
